Korean 10-step skin routine
What it is and why it works
Skin care is part of Korean culture and therefore begins at an early age and is also part of the life of Korean women. Suddenly, when age approaches 30 and the first lines start to appear, it is a sign that all these years, proper facial care including sunblock has been omitted. Because of this, many women are starting to buy anti-age products to repair the damage, even though the results may not be visible and the skin may not be as radiant as they would hope. Korean women have discovered the secret of radiant, well-being and well-groomed skin. A key part of the Korean skin care routine is to lay the right skin care products in the right way to get the best benefit for your skin well being – 10 steps to get your skin in shape.
10 steps may sound like an extremely long and time consuming routine, but in reality it is not so – double cleansing, exfoliating, treating problem areas, moisturizing and sun protection. With this easy formula you will get great results and your skin will feel well.
It is good to remember that you cannot treat your skin with just one wonderful all-in-one care product. There is a daytime and nighttime routine. The night time routine adds extra steps to help the skin in the rejuvenation process, but omits the sunscreen.
The 10 steps are outlined below in an easy-to-follow diagram of your daily skin care routine.
1.Oil based cleaner
An oil-based cleanser is the first and important step in a Korean skin care routine. These include cleaning oil or Balm. The oil-based cleanser helps remove all makeup, lipstick and heavy eye makeup. Both oily skin and dry skin will benefit from this step. Take a small amount of cleansing oil / balm and gently rub on dry face, not forgetting eyelids, eyelashes and lips. Rinse with warm water until all impurities and make-up are washed away.
2. Water based cleaner
The second step in dual cleaning is the aqueous cleaner. Such cleansers include, for example, cleaning foams or gels and are intended to clean even the most impurities of the face. This two-step cleansing routine ensures that your skin is ready to receive the nourishing and nourishing ingredients of the next steps.
3. Exfoliation (at least 2-3 times a week)
Once you have cleansed your skin, you can start scrubbing. The exfoliation step removes dead skin cells, cleanses the pores, and brightens and smoothes the skin. Exfoliation is one of the most important steps in skincare, as it is done regularly to enhance the effect of other products, brighten your skin and keep it vibrant.
This may be a step that is usually overlooked, but the importance of face water is important in daily skin care. Facial lotions moisturize the skin and smooth out the pH after cleansing, which results in better absorption of the treatment products of the next steps.
The most important step in a Korean skin care routine called the heart of the routine. This combination of face water and serum is designed to moisturize and rejuvenate your skin. Cloudy skin, blackheads, acne, hyperpigmentation, UV damage, enlarged pores, fine lines, wrinkles – at this point, when fighting the above problems, your weapon is Essence, which contains various acids. Below you can see which acids are best suited for a specific skin problem.
Daily BHA – Acid-based Essence can be too hard on the skin, so you can alternate between using Galactomyces-based Essence one day and BHA-based Essence every other day.
Infections: BHA / AHA
Enlarged pores: BHA
Hyperpigmentation: Vitamin C / Galactomyces
UV Damage: Vitamin C / AHA
Wrinkles and fine lines: Vitamin C / AHA
Cloudy and tired skin: Vitamin C / AHA / Galactomyces
6. Serums and Ampoules
Serums and ampoules contain essence in a more concise form. Pat a small amount on your face and allow to be absorbed before you begin the next step. This step should only be done in the evenings.
7. Sheet Mask
Sheet mask is the soul of the Korean skin care routine. Sheet masks contain a lot of care and moisturizing ingredients that are instantly absorbed into your skin. Choose the right fabric masks for your skin. You can do this step every day or just 2-3 times a week. Put the sheet mask of your choice on your face, leave on for 10-20 minutes.
8. Eye cream
The skin around the eyes is the most sensitive area of the face and should be treated with particular care. The morning and evening eye cream protects the skin from premature wrinkles.
9. Moisturizing cream
The moisturizer moisturizes the skin and binds all of these conditioners to your skin from steps 1-8. If the moisturizer feels too thick you can use the emulsion. In the evenings, you can use a night cream or night mask, which is a grooming product like a sheet mask in a jar.
10. Sunscreen (daytime only)
The use of sunscreen is the easiest and fastest way to prevent premature aging and damage to your skin. Apply the cream in the morning, also in winter. In the evening, this step is omitted. Instead of a sunscreen, you can use BB cream because it has a high SPF factor that protects your skin in the same way as a sunscreen.
